👋 Oh hey, I’m Sharon.
Writing in the third person feels weird, so we won’t be doing that. Here’s the TL;DR:

I’m a data-driven product and design leader based in Austin, currently building the app-free way for manufacturers to connect with their frontline workers.

Sound interesting?

For the last decade, I’ve been on the 0-1 journey. A few times.

Whether it’s enterprise data management or artisanal sprinkles, my focus is always research-backed product strategy and just-enough design to answer the next big question.

I love to dig deeply into new domains, designing step-function improvements for underserved populations.

These days, I’m immersed in manufacturing and connecting with hourly workers with TeamSense. You’d never believe the kinds of factories I’m lucky enough to visit.

At data.world, I helped enterprise users discover what data was available, fresh, and trustworthy 10x faster. I designed a Gartner MQ-leading data catalog for that.

I thrive in the early stages of a company, collaborating with passionate people building new things in search of product market fit.

Just for kicks, let’s say its 2014 and you want to create a whole new online buying experience that simplifies price shopping into one-click buying. That’s exactly what we did at Wikibuy.

Wikibuy is now offered as Capital One Shopping.

I prefer to work across brand and product when I can. That’s the fastest way to a cohesive customer journey.

This comes in handy when I’m the founding designer or an early project contributor.

Recently, I refreshed the TeamSense brand, messaging, website, and app. In 2022, I led all things product and design for Otis Health and multiple other company concepts spun out from the Pioneer Square Labs startup incubator.

One time, I almost quit my cushy tech job to make artisanal vegan sprinkles.

For two years, I ran Hardcore Sprinkles in the spare hours I wasn’t leading product design for a Series A startup (😅). I dreamed up the recipes, manufactured product, operated as a wholesale supplier to local bakeries, designed packaging, and was a one-woman e-commerce shop. It was exhausting and I loved (almost) every second.

Another time, I converted my Honda Fit into a mini camper and drove solo across the Great American West.

8,000 miles, 18 national parks and monuments, 3 time zones, and 45 days of continuous travel in a subcompact hatchback. One day I’ll finish designing the book about it.

But the journey really started with designing and building the rig.

I keep telling myself I’m done with side hustles, but they keep finding me. I just can’t quit ’em.

Most recently, that’s Matchbox Library.

Before that, it was a whiskey advent calendar, annual holiday projects including making my own bitters, and my endless quest for the perfect recipe organizational system. …And that one time I accidentally turned my sprinkle-making hobby into a real CPG business. (Oops.)

I’m a bit of an introvert (INFJ, hbu?), but I love connecting with tech folks one-on-one and mentoring up-and-coming designers.

We don’t only have to talk shop. Chat me up about your favorite novelty museum, the best kept secrets of our national parks, what I’m baking lately, and how Austin sure ain’t what it used to be (and probably never was). Talk soon?
